Alfred Paul Murrah (October 27, 1904October 30, 1975) was an American attorney and judge, best known for being the namesake of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, which was destroyed in the Oklahoma City bombing on April 19, 1995. ==Early life and education== Born in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, Murrah ran away from home at the age of 13, riding freight trains until he was dropped in the community of Tuttle, Oklahoma. A local family took him in and housed him, in exchange for labor on their farm. Murrah worked his way through high school and college, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. He earned his LL.B. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1928. Murrah was an extremely active member of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, Harlan Chapter, and served as the fraternity's Supreme Justice from 1962 to 1964.
